She went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. Dr. Shimp completed her OB/GYN residency training at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She specializes in all areas of OB/GYN care, including the teenage years, family planning, pregnancy, delivery, menopause, and beyond.
