What Gynecologic Conditions are Commonly Treated?

The team at Premier Women’s Care of Southwest Florida diagnose and treat every type of gynecologic problem. Some of the most common conditions include:

  • Abnormal Uterine Bleeding: Abnormal uterine bleeding includes problems such as heavy bleeding, irregular periods, bleeding between periods, and bleeding after menopause.
  • Pelvic Pain: Pelvic pain arises from numerous conditions of your reproductive and urinary systems, such as endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory disease, and interstitial cystitis.
  • Endometriosis: As patches of endometriosis grow on your ovaries, Fallopian tubes, and throughout the pelvic region, they cause pain and may lead to infertility.
  • Uterine Fibroids: These abnormal growths in your uterus are benign (noncancerous) but often cause heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain.
  • Ovarian Cysts: Ovarian cysts are small, fluid-filled sacs that often go away on their own. However, they may cause bleeding and pain if they grow large or rupture.
  • Urinary Incontinence: Loss of bladder control is common as women get older, especially after menopause.

When Should I Get Medical Care for Gynecology Problems?

You’re always welcome to call the team at Premier Women’s Care of Southwest Florida any time you have a question. However, you should schedule a visit if you experience:

  • Bleeding between periods or after menopause
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Pain or bleeding during intercourse
  • Frequent need to urinate or burning during urination
  • Persistent pelvic pain or pressure
  • Vaginal itching or burning
  • Sores in your genital area
  • Vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor

In most cases, these symptoms are easy to treat, but they may also be signs of a gynecologic problem. For example, pelvic pain and heavy bleeding may be symptoms of endometriosis.
