Because of high flu activity and to safeguard the health of our patients, we request that you reschedule your appointment if you have symptoms of cough, fever or sore throat. Patients with these symptoms will be required to wear a mask.

Our established pregnant patients may now use our self-check-in kiosk without going to the front desk.

MonaLisa Touch®

The physicians at Premier Women’s Care of Southwest Florida were the first in the area to provide treatment with the MonaLisa Touch®, an advanced laser that restores vaginal tissues without surgery or downtime in as little as five minutes. Treatment with MonaLisa Touch® can help reverse conditions related to menopause-related vaginal atrophy, which causes about half of women to experience vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. If you’d like to learn more about how MonaLisa Touch® can alleviate vaginal dryness without hormones or chemicals, you can request a new patient appointment online. If you are already an established patient, you can book online through the patient portal. Or you can always call (239) 432-5858 to schedule a consultation with one of Premier Women’s Care of Southwest Florida’s women’s health-care providers in Fort Myers or Cape Coral.

What causes vaginal dryness

With the drop in estrogen levels during menopause, the vaginal wall becomes thinner, dryer, and less elastic. Known commonly as vaginal atrophy, this process leads to some rather unpleasant symptoms, including:

If you are experiencing these menopausal symptoms, the gynecologists at Premier Women’s Care of Southwest Florida may recommend that the path to safe and effective relief is with the MonaLisa Touch® in a brief in-office procedure.

How the MonaLisa Touch® works

The MonaLisa Touch® is a special type of gynecologic laser called a fractional CO2 laser, which divides a single laser beam into many streams of light. These thin beams of light treat microscopic columns of tissue, producing therapeutic changes in those areas and leaving the skin surrounding the beams untreated, which promotes faster healing.

The doctor will insert a small, rounded probe into your vagina, where it delivers gentle laser beams to your vaginal tissue. The laser’s energy reaches deep into the vaginal lining. There, its mild heat generates changes at the cellular level that increase blood circulation and stimulate production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, thereby restoring strength, resilience, and hydration to the vaginal lining.

Using the same technology, the MonaLisa Touch® can also be used to treat lichen sclerosus, a skin condition that affects external vulvar structures.

What to expect after treatment with the MonaLisa Touch®

Treatment with the MonaLisa Touch® does not require anesthesia, so you can get back to your daily routine without taking downtime. However, you may have slight discomfort, redness, swelling or discharge for a few days. During that time your doctor may recommend you refrain from intercourse.

To treat your symptoms you’ll need three MonaLisa Touch treatments about 5-7 weeks apart. You can expect your results to improve after each session. We recommend annual maintenance treatments to maintain your results.

To learn more about relieving the symptoms of vaginal atrophy with the MonaLisa Touch®, you can request a new patient appointment online.
